Why Google loves blogs (and you should, too!)

Search engines love blogsSearch engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing, love websites which have original content on them. And when they love a website, they move it up the search engine results!
So how do you, the promotional product distributor, give them what they want?
Firstly let’s look at what we mean by original content. It’s content that you’ve written, basically! If the content of your website is the same as several thousand other distributors, you’re all being penalized for not being unique.
You can address this in several ways, including customizing your home and ‘About Us’ pages, but having a blog is one of the easiest and most effective ways you can show Google that you are an expert in your field.
Because you’re writing about what you know (promotional products, corporate apparel etc.) in your own words, you’ll be separating yourself from the competition and improving your search engine ranking as a result.

What to write about

Blogging is really important both to improve your search engine ranking, and to build credibility and trust with your customers.

It can be difficult to think of things to write about, though, so here’s our advice:

Write about what you know

Tthe value of having a uniform, how branded key chains can encourage repeat orders etc.

Tell a story

Anecdotal posts are easier to read and generally more entertaining.

Don’t try to sell your services

Provide information of genuine value to the reader. Be generous - this is one area where what goes around definitely comes around!

Go into detail...

But break up content with lists and graphics - bear in mind a good proportion of your audience will only read the headlines.

Use statistics

PPAI publishes reports about the power of promo; use their stats (acknowledging your source!) to add authority to your words.

Finally set yourself a realistic target – one post per week – and stick to it!
